It was an afternoon celebration of culture, solidarity, and heartfelt service during the Binnadang para sa Resbakuna: Recognizing and Celebrating the Cordilleran Spirit of Solidarity for COVID-19 Vaccination, an activity that sought to honor and appreciate the efforts of everyone who has been involved in the rollout of the Resbakuna program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, held at the Baguio City Convention Center last June 23, 2022.
DOH-CHD-CAR Regional Director Rio Magpantay and Assistant Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan awarded plaques of recognition to the local chief executives, directors, head officers, and other representatives of six provinces and one chartered city within CAR, along with the regional offices of the different line agencies, private sector stakeholders, and DOH hospitals that have helped contribute to the high regional vaccination accomplishment.
Guest of honor and National Vaccination Operations Center chief, DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje joined both directors later on to award trophies and cash incentives to the three top-performing municipalities in each of the provinces, as well as the three top-performing areas in the Cordilleras in terms of vaccination coverage rate.
The impeccably dressed participants donned their finest Filipiniana and traditional garb for the event, staying until the end to witness the ceremonial lighting of the Cordillera Solidarity Map, which featured representatives of each of the provinces and independent city in the region pledge their commitment of support to the national COVID-19 vaccination program in the vernacular to ensure that no Cordilleran will be left behind.
“We started this fight together and so we will also finish this together,” Usec Cabotaje encouraged everyone to keep the spirit of “binnadang” (Kankana-ey term for “bayanihan”) alive.
